I had a cat that urinated a lot (she was on lasix for heart failure) and I sprinkled the bottom baking soda at the bottom of the litter box before topping with cat litter and it made cleaning the box easier because it was a clumping barrier for the urine and the litter didn't stick as much to the cat box.
